I finished a project today that I've been planning for and working on since April. In April, our newest neice was born, Abigail. When I saw her and Caroline together, I knew then that I had to make them matching dresses. Not to leave any of our special neices out, I decided that it was only fair to make three dresses, one for Caroline, one for Abigail and one for Alana. I found some beautiful material at the Hancock fabric store in Danville, on clearance because the store was closing. It is an amazing rainbow of colors, pastels, but in jewel tones. It has a bit of a shine to it too. It is hard to explain, and the pictures dont do it justice. But here are a few pics anyway! The first is of all three dresses side by side.

Eric and I found plain white tee-shirts for each girl. Since the shirts were such different sizes from each other, we were not finding colors that matched each other. White was the easiest way to go. Then I got pink dye in a color that I felt would go with the material. The shirts were easy to dye, and turned out a fabulous color.

For Abigail's dress, instead of using a tee shirt, I used a onesie, that had the same lace around the neck as Alana's tee shirt did. Caroline's te-shirt didnt have the lace, but Caroline isnt one for lace and fru fru type stuff. So I dont think she will care that her shirt is a bit more plain.
Each shirt was cut shorter, to have the skirt more at the waist. Which I have to admit is a guess on my part, since I didnt have the girls here to measure! The onsie, was cut, the skirt sewed on, and then I put the bottom of the onesie back on, as you can see in the pic below.

I also added a cute pink and white daisy at the neckline of each shirt. That was somthing I had on hand here, and just looked cute with the dresses. So here are all three again.

Im thinking about making either scrunchies or fabric covered barettes, or maybe a head band, out of the left over pink tee shirt material. I have two nice sized chunks of it, I could make somthing for each girl, and I have more of the daisies too.
I am tickled with how they turned out. I plan to send them by mail to the girls. Its exciting to get a package in the mail when your a kid, right?
