Saturday started very very early! I was at Pam's house by 5am, because Eric had to get on to work. I rode with her and Dora (who is a chatterbox, even at 5am, lol) over to the sale shortly before 6am. We had our first customers at probably 6:03, but the sale was supposed to start at 7. Oh well, we were fairly ready. It was busy from then clear until about 11:40. We had my quilts, we had a magician who was making balloon creations, we had door prizes, and baked goods and tons of stuff for sale. It was an awesome day. People were so nice! We had people hand us a dollar or two and not even buy anything, just to help us raise the money for little Isaac's surgery. We were also hoping for enough to help little Drew, who also has a cleft palate and is 2 months old and only weighs 6 pounds. In all, we needed between 2,000 and 2,400 to help both boys. It was a big step of faith for all of us, believing that God can do anything, even raise that much money from a little old rummage sale.
people kept coming, and the money kept piling up, i saw the stacks of $20 growing, and I couldnt believe my eyes. I was one of the cashiers, and the other lady helping me was the wife of the magician. We were kept hopping, adding up sales and answering questions about Love Without Boundaries, and about our goals, etc.
When things started calming down around 11:30, I decided to at least count the the bigger bills and get an estimate of where we stood. A local pizza place donated pizza for us workers, so when we stopped to pray and then eat, I announced the tentative total. $1274. We all got a bit teary-eyed. That wasnt counting the $500 check my grandma had sent. We were nearly to $1800. Plenty for Isaac, and enough to have a good start on Drew's goal. Beyond our expectations. The last hour passed and when they started packing up the left overs, i sat down for a more exact count. Without the change and a few other things that were coming in yet (some quilt ticket money and some other misc) we were at $1698. I brought the cash box home with me to do a more exact count.
Our grand total ended up being nearly $2300! Is that incredible?? Enough for both boys more than likely!
God is so GOOD!
