Today was my follow-up appointment with my brain doctor from Methodist rehab. They did some simple memory tests and some dexterity testing, and were very pleased with my progress. Dr Y said that for having had such a significant brain injury, my recovery was remarkable. He was very pleased. I hadn't seen him since July, so I must have looked tons better than the last time he had seen me. We stopped by the 5th floor, where I spent two weeks on the brain injury ward. The nurses and therapists were all just tickled to see me. I wasn't walking yet the last time I was up there. We hugged everyone and visited a lot, and they all asked about my mom. Mom, of course, was here when I was up there, so they all knew her. I go back for another follow-up in 6 months.
I was able to do some sewing on my quilt yesterday. I enjoyed that. It made my hand hurt, so I didn't work on it as long as I would have liked to. I'm pleased with what I did acomplish though.
the swelling in my hand is better today, but it is still pretty tight. The stitches pull still and I don't like that.
I can type a little using my left fingers, but not for long and it does hurt. I still can't make a fist, but I am supposed to keep trying.
