It has become fall around here! Crisp, cool temperatures and leaves falling off the trees. Some have some color, but mostly they are brown.
We have been spending a lot of time working in our yard. When we moved in, the yard was very overgrown and there were tons of leaves impacted into the grass. It didnt look like it had been raked in years, honestly. The bushes were all shaggy and over-grown. We have big dirt patches and acrons EVERYWHERE!
So we bought a rake and a set of garden shears and went to work. We spent about 3 hours thursday out side. We raked and clipped and raked some more. We got the worst of it I would say. The bushes were all clipped and the leaves cleared out from around the bushes and driveway. We bagged 7 big leaf bags full that day.
The next day we went out to finish the raking and while Eric worked on that, I took the shears over to the fence that divides our yard from the one next to us. Their bushes and a small tree were climbing through and over our fence. So I clipped and clipped. The people next door have a big dog, he doesnt appreciate us being outside, and he especially didnt appreciate my clipping so close to HIS yard! So, there is a piece of fence that I haven't clipped next to yet, Ill wait until he is inside one day and get it taken care of then. :)
We bagged another 8 bags on Friday, and we are still not done. The backyard hasnt been touched yet, but it will be strictly raking. The front yard needs a good once over with the rake now that the clipping is basically done.
We will have to address the mowing issue soon, but the grass isnt too tall yet.
I have to say that Eric and I have both been very very sore!! WE had a great sense of accomplishment though!
We are looking forward to planting flowers and pulling out some of the bushes and doing some beautifying. So far it has all been damage control.
