Spring is coming closer and closer! The days have been getting warmer, and the nights not so cold. Now we have had a few freezing nights now and then, but on average, the last freeze for Jackson is in mid-to-late March. So my thoughts have been turning toward flowers for the yard. =)
I want something easy care, I do not have the greenest thumb. So I am leaning toward Creeping Phlox for around the bushes. It doesnt get the best sun there, and from what I have read, Phlox is pretty happy anywhere. I also have a hanging basket that I found for about $2, but I need something pretty to grow in it. I found some Minature Dalhias, purple or orange, to grow in it. They are supposed to be very hardy. I also plan to have one large planter on our porch area with Dwarf Roses in it, probably yellow ones. I might get something for the far side of the yard, along the fence to the back yard. It is just dirt over there, but it gets more sun. Some color would make it a lot nicer. We also plan to put down some paving stones and make a walkway to the front door. Right now there are some old bricks that I assume made a walkway at one point, but are only half there now. So you have to walk across dirt to the front door. I don't appreciate that. So we are going to invest in some paving stones and some GRASS SEED!!!
I will post pictures of that when we get a little farther in the 'beautification' process!
