So, for those of you who don't know yet, we had severe storms last friday, and a large tree toppled over and hit the back of our rental house. I was alone and in the hallway at the time. It was majorly scarey, but it could have been so much worse! Here are a few pictures.
Our landlord had it cut up the next day, and the city came and got rid of the pieces today. There is a small hole in the roof of my laundry room, and water came in there, but no major damage. We were without electricty for two days, and were in a hotel for that time. We were very glad to get home Sunday afternoon. We lost everything in our fridge, a friend let us bring stuff from our freezer over in hopes of salvaging some of the food. Our bikes were in the backyard when the tree fell, and my bike tire is very bent. We do hope to get it either fixed or replaced. Here are a few more pictures of the tree and the removal process.
Here is the pile of the tree in my front yard.
We are just so thankful we were not hit worse. There are a few homes on our street that had trees fall into them, squashing them like a pancake and doing major damage! At least we didn't have damage to our living area. The storage room is also my laundry room, but at least it is cement floors and not as easily hurt by water.
